I am currently building a new system and plan to load Windows XP Pro and Office XP Professional. My current system has Windows 98 2nd and Office 98 Professional. I know that I can load both of these on my new system and then install the less expensive UPGRADE XP. I hate to load all of the extra junk and would prefer to load Windows and Office XP on a 'clean' hard drive. What would be recommendations? Buy OEM Windows XP Pro and Office XP Pro OEM and load clean or spend less money and load my 98 versions and then load the XP upgrades? I figure this has been covered previously, but I looked backward a month and did not see any mention of it.

tks for any assistance or ideas.

you can load the upgrade version on a clean drive as long as you have the CD for 98. It will ask you to insert that at a certain point, then you're legal.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.
