Run DEP on your box it will protect you online in some games from memory corruption including some slow admin hacks in their server if they are so inclined to try it against you.

Software DEP for XP can be found by right clicking on My Computer and going into the Advanced Tab and Performance settings Tab. Then open the Data Execution Tab and select to run DEP on all your programs. If you find some of them getting wacky simply add the .exe for that program to be ignored by DEP.

If you run an AMD 64 CPU it has built in DEP hardware so you need not bother.

I only play HL2 at home not online. Every time I upgrade the P.C with a new add-in like a graphics card or my switch to PCIe I play it again just to experience the graphics quality and visual effects.

I din not block Steam.Exe if you notice because I play DoD online and that must be protected under DEP. Memory hacks are really bad out there and mostly from bad admin's server side.

No DEP is an XP based program that will run in SOFTWARE Mode on your P.C as I mentioned in the very first post.

If you have a DEP enabled CPU don't worry about it it's done when you boot your P.C

Might I humbly ask what type of flammable material you used to get the mattress going ?

Paraffin is quite good I hear but only English chap's can rape and pillage with that exotic fuel, so I think us North American chaps are left with Kerosene (same thing) or gasoline but Gasoline makes such a smell and overrides the fleshy smell to much.
