AMD 1U rackmount units

Just saw this today that AMD MPs are being shipped in 1U
rackmounts.. that was eye opening for me to say the least.
I didn't think that AMD chips could be put in a 1U chassis
due to heat constraints.. but apparently they can.

Intel Components, AMD Components... all made in Taiwan!
Edited by kurokaze on 12/12/01 01:01 PM.

  1. Of course they can, but you wouldnt want to build it yourself. Keep in mind the Athlon consumes less power, and thus dissapates less heat than a comparable P4. In fact, I even thought they made 1u Itanium servers. now THAT is some serious thermodynamical achievement (if true).

  2. they have been out for quite a while.

Flame not, lest ye be flamed.
