Upgrade CPU for HP

I am trying to upgrade a HP Vectra VL6 Series 6 computer (66 MHz motherboard and PII/266 MHz processor). Based on the speed of the system bus, I presume I could use a processor up to about 533 MHz. I was considering upgrading to a Celeron 533 processor. However, the HP manual I have states that the fastest processor that can be utilized is 333 MHz. I contacted HP to see if a higher processor speed could be used, but was told that 333 was the max. It seems this answer is too simple (for HP). Is there still a way to upgrade the processor on this unit to more than 333 MHz (which hardly seems worth it vs. the current 266 unit). ??

Thank you in advance for any responses.

Yes, if you can find the right BIOS, you can run a Celeron 766 in it. Otherwise, older BIOS would limmit you to the 533 PPGA on a slotket (NOT the newer FC-PGA).

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
