Desktop M$ 2K 414 install failures..

Argh...

So on a machine that's never had Desktop; I try and install 4.1.4

After hours of trying to install as a power user, with Admin privs,
and uninstalling and reinstalling as Admin...

All I can get is "Error: Invalid Configuration" terminations.

I can run as Admin, so it must be a permissions issue, but come on -- can't Palm make
a desktop that works under 2K?

I can't find anything at the Palm site re: this...

I cornered some Palm folks at FOSE last week and here is the [IMHO, ugly]
workaround they suggested...

Remove old installations.

As Admin; elevate user to Admin level

Install Desktop AS USER

HotSync

Reduce user back to normal/power etc
