Help about XP + A7V

Hmm..

I have a ASUS A7V KT133 ... and I´m now running a Duron 800 in it. But now I want to buy an XP 1600+.

So my question is if I can run an XP 1600+ in my ASUS A7V KT133 with the 1009 BIOS installed???

  5. But I will buy a new CPU anyway ... I just want to know if I can use an XP or if I must buy an old fasion T-bird
  6. No, your motherboard does not support the new Athlon XP processors. Max processor your motherboard can handle is a 1200MHz Thunderbird.
  7. That can´t be right because I´ve also got an T-birs 1400 Mhz. And That T-Bird runs perfectly with my A7V.. :-/
  8. First off the Asus A7V ONLY supports 100MHz Front Side Bus based Prcoessor's.....that means Duron 600 - 950Mhz as the Duron 1GHz and up uses the Morgan core (sse enhancements and Thermal diode plus other things) and the A7V will NOT support it, as its just WAY to old nowaday's.......as for the AMD Athlon XP Processor's, there ONLY 133MHz front side bus based so therefore it will not work, as Asus will not release a BIOS to support it, as all the tracings on the Motherboard are not connected on that board to access the full features/potential of the XP Processor......

And you said 1009 is the latest BIOS......BUT, i believe 1009 is the latest bios for the ASUS A7V133 KT133A Motherboard, not the ASUS A7V KT133 motherboard (there is a difference)

And as far as someone saying the A7V sonly supports T-Birds up to 1.2GHz....thats not true.......as there are 1.4GHz T-Birds with a 100MHz FSB.......14.0X Multiplier and a 100Mhz FSB equals 1400MHz.....and the A7V WILL work with that....

v3nom, your best bet would be to buy a cheap but good motherboard, like a LATEST REVISION ECS K7S5A and a AMD Athlon XP 1500+ processor........then u ahve the XP Processor ASWELL as 133MHz FSB support and an upgrade path still =)
