Hi all, What can i safely overclock the above processor to? I went to 350 and that seemed fine. Then i went to 400 and WinXP wouldn't even start. Then i went back to 350 and it booted up to "a serious error has occured...blah blah, checking your harddrive etc" I've put it back to 300 anyway....but i thought the k62 was a good overclocking cpu. I thought i could have gotten at least to 400 no probs.

K6-2 Good Overclocker ????? Never........

K6-2+ on the other hand.....now THAT's a good overclocker (0.18 micron, Enhanced 3D Now!) etc. etc.

There ya go...

and id say the most you'll get is 350 - 366Mhz IF(and thats a BIG BOLD IF) your lucky, remember, if it crash's at 350MHz, than UP the voltage until its stable, THAN go for 400MHz (4.0 x 100) and if u need to up the voltage a little more, go for it.....

Good luck & have fun OC'n.

Yes for most mobos.
Only put up voltages by the smallest increments you can like 0.1 V. Then if still no go try another 0.1 V. It would be risky to overvoltage your cpu more than 0.4 V past specs. But that is only an opinion. :)

I got a K6-2 333 to run stable at 2.8v core/500MHz. Your 300 should reach 400 at 2.8v core. You'll have to use a good cooler, most standard T-Bird/PIII coolers are more than adequate.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

There ARE jumpers for the core voltage, there are VERY FEW Socket 7 motherboards that use automatic voltage detection, so few that I'm almost sure your's isn't one of them.
