overall which computer is better if they cost the exact same?

Best to call and ask to be sure.
Elsewhere on the HP site they're showing these options for the $50 and $100 GPU upgrades.

Since the Llano A8 APUs already have integrated HD 6620G graphics I don't think paying extra for a less powerful dedicated graphics card makes sense.
The only graphics upgrade that would make sense to me is the HD 6770M which isn't an option on the dv6z.

Check into the Pavilion dv6t "Sandy Bridge" models and see if you can get something with the HD 6770M for close to a similar price.
