recommendation for P4 on SIS645

i need your urgent recommendation for the following: -

my freind is going to buy P4 1.7 with MSI645 ultra 333 DDR S478 motherboard.

any idea about this motherboard? how is 645SIS chipset? i checked THG review and it seems good, but is it stable? is DDR333 working or it is only working on 266 or 200 even in using DDR333? what about the system bus 100 or 160, i think 100 (100x4)?

The ram will be DDR333 CL2 (micron, crucial, corsair, infenion), or DDR333 is CL2.5? 1 or 2 modules of 256mb

graphic card Geforce2 TI, i think this card is good since he is not a hard gamer.

hard disk will be 40gb either maxtor D740X, IBM60GXP, Seagate barracuda VI

so is there any comment for the above choices? any other better choices? the cost is effective and he is not into AMD, and the computer will be for general use and audio editing.

As far as p4 boards go, I suppose that chipset is ok.

I believe the system bus is 166x2.

Why dosent he liked AMD if I may ask?

No Overclock+stock hsf=GOOD!

Alot of audio applications are optimized for intel. Also alot of people I know who do audio wouldn't touch amd, they need a stable system (more important than a fast or cheap one)

You're talking out of your butt again, II... myself and both my friends all work in music production and post-production, we all use AMD systems, and they run like a dream with no hang-ups whatsoever. The superior FPU is what is required in our line of work, not the SSE2 instruction set that hasn't been implemented in two thirds of the software we use.

i tried to convince my friend to buy AMDXP system but he does not like AMD because of its old reputation and not many people recommending him to use, although i told him what is AMD's status now and what kind of wonderful and great processor they are using but he locked his mind and kept talking about intel.
however, i think he is going to buy the sis645 (maybe already bought it yesterday)

finally i wish intel can do some usefull CPUs so we all will be happy and will be in a real confusion that which CPU we will buy

I saw a post on the 1.6 and 1.8 512k northwoods being available in Japan. If you're set on Intel, you may want to see if they will be available here next month. The 2.2 and 2.0 versions are a little pricey.
