Stuck on the starting wondiws screen...

Hello, so I dropped my laptop this weekend. But it still worked for a few minutes before it froze. So I powered it off and tried to turn it back on. It turns back on just fine, but will continuously load the "Starting Windows" screen. I tried doing diagnostics and repairs, nothing. When I load it in safe mode, it loads up until the ClassPNP.sys, and then freezes.

Any ideas?

More about stuck starting wondiws screen
  1. run the Repair Windows tool from the Windows DVD
  2. Damaged HDD most likely.
  3. Open it up to see if you can spot any physical damage.

I once dropped my laptop down a flight of stairs. O_O

I was lucky it still lasted for the next couple of years :]
  4. I opened up the back. No physical damage. I may have missed out on mentioning that I'm currently in China and don't have access to my recovery disks. If it is in fact a software issue, is there anything I can run from the startup that isn't from a recovery disk?
  5. See if you can boot into safe mode.
  6. Hi :)

Run a hard drive test in DOS... HIRENS BOOT CD etc, it sounds like a failing hard drive...

    All the best Brett :)
  7. I also experience the same problem beofre. Even though I have overcame it by re-installing the system, I don't know the reason. Is there anybody who knows it?
