I'm going to be putting together an athlon xp system, whats the best mobo at
the moment for that CPU?

I just need solid STABLE mobo.

Whats everyone think of these two configs? (already have case, video card.
cd-rom etc).

yes, the configs are great, you have choosen just the right chipset. The two boards (Epox 8KHA+ and Asus A7V266-E) are both good, but you might go for a integrated IDE RAID controller, Abit has one such board.

BTW checkout the Asus A7A266-E mobo, based on the Ali Magik1 chipset, earlier lost out on performance but is extremely stable, compatible and cheaper than the KT266A. The rev C of the Magik1 used on the A7A266-E is supposed to perform at par with the KT266A, so it might be worth to wait for the reviews and benchmarks. I have the older A7A266 and never had a problem with it, and looking forward to get a A7A266-E for a new XP1600!

kr7-raid, uses kt266a.
kg7-raid uses amd760, both boards are almost exactly the same in all other respects.
