Ahhh crap .. should have gottin him the ATI card!

ok heres the prob.. i got my dad the abit siluro t400 for christmas. The tv out doesn't play dvd's on the tv. He's running through the composite video. I'm thinking you need s-video to do that.

Is this card capabile of playing dvd's on the tv set or no?

thanks!

That depends, does the MX400 Chip itself decode the DVD ?? or is it CPU Decoded primarily ???? ATI card are TOTALY Hardware DVD Decoding......anyways.....it SHOULD show if its hardware DVD Decoding.....if its not, than probably not.....actually even if it is, it technically SHOUDL still show...but is it ONLY DVD's that don't show, or does PS to TV not work at all ??!??

the pc to tv works fine.
my dad can drag over windows media player and play the animation , but NOT full screen. It just maximizes to the 1st monitor. he can play the dvd's on the first monitor but not on the tv.

You wouldn't by any chance have any info on my Casio pocket pc problem would ya? lol

Thanks!

lol...sorry dude, i don't......

I know about that Video card though, becasue I'm using the exact same one right now which I put into my Aunt's computer (seeing how this system is her's which I built for her) its a GREAT card......

only thing that i can think of that makes sense to me, is that They did it on purpose that you can't view the DVD Full-Screen on the TV, becasue if you could, than that means you could Copy the DVD to VHS...

I had the same problem today with my Aunts Sanyo DVD Player for Home Theatre......when I plugged the RCA Cables into the VCR's line in, the picture was all messed up and didnt show sometimes, but i could hear the sound fine.......so maybe your problem is similar....Remember, Macrovision is VERY strict, so my assumption would be that its a copy protection thing.......

There are other ways to get around this instead of using the InterVideo WinDVD Player that comes with the Abit Card....use Macrovision FREE DVD Players.........I can;t name any off the top of my head to be honest, but I know there are some, also there are cracks availbale for Donwload that disables Macrovision.....This would be my best guess....check it out yourself........try a different player and/or crack yours...ALSO.....If your running Windows XP, Media Player 8 allows you to run DVD's......I don't know what OS your running......but if it's XP try it out.....

yes, there is a Macrovision copy protection on DVD to void you to duplicate DVD on VHS

when you run the VHS copy, you have some oblique lines & the picture is deformed

but i think this copy protection is integrated on your VCR & i don't know how we can bipass or take off it
i think the DVD/VHS is flagged with Macrovision protection & when the VCR keep the signal, it knows it is not authorized to record the support & run the Macrovision algorithm to deform the picture before recording it

but nevertheless you can see it on TV clearly

you have also Macrovision protected VHS as DVD & the result is the same
