Sound Card : Audigy Platinum EX (I Have Some musicians friends)
Monitor : 19"
Memory : 512MBDDR (Of course my darling)
A CD ROM
A DVD ROM
A CD RW
An A great speaker set (6 channel)the which help me to leave out all the power of the audigy card.
A Great Cooler For My Athlon (I will need it)
And last The Video Card (I Think that with a Geforce 2 ultra or less will be great because i don't need a lot of visual features (i'm not a gamer) and i can wait for the TI600 or even the geforce 4)

Less than $1,100? Your gonna be way over your budget with what you have listed. Sorry.
December 27, 2001 5:42:10 PM

No he won't. He should be able to get that for ok. Couple of comments.

The Audigy isn't 6-channel, and no card on the market is (except for the new Maya 7.1, but I haven't read up on that, so I can't give an opinion). If you're getting the eX for recording, I'd recommend the Hercules Game Theater XP. Better external rack, and half the price. Of course, you'd be better off with a Digidesign 001, but that's around $800.

Head on over to Newegg and start pricing stuff up.

His will be over $1100. I calculated that his system would cost at least $1000 (not included 19" monitor).

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

All prices from Newegg, do not include shipping.

Motherboard - $105 (good price, BTW)
XP 1800+ Retail - $225 (my recommendation is a 1600+ for $139)
Sound Card - $208 (my recommendation is the GTXP for $113)
Monitor - $229 (my recommendation is the AG for $325)
RAM - $126
CD-ROM - Aopen 52x for $26
CD-RW - Teac 24/10/40 for $125
DVD-ROM - Pioneer 16x slot-load $75
Speakers - ?? (my recommendation, Logitech Z560s for $140)
Video card - ?? (my recommendation, Gainward ti200 for $165)

Ok, let's add that up. Open up calculator... $1,425.00 for what you specified (except for speakers and video card. With my sugestions...$1,339.

Well, looks like I spoke to hastily (and not the first time). I guess I've been reading to many of Matisaro's "Ultimate AMD Gaming Machine for $500!!!" posts :)

Wait, why does he need a CD-ROM drive when he has a DVD-ROM drive and a CD-RW?

AMD technology + Intel technology = Intel/AMD Pentathlon IV; the ULTIMATE PC processor
December 28, 2001 12:42:21 PM

Yes is true i don't need the cd-rom my mind is freak.
Also 5.1 does meaning 5 channels plus one (so 6 spek or 5 speak and one woofer)?

I think

5.1 is 5 speakers (channels), plus a sub.
Did you want advice on all those parts you listed?

Hmm...first heavy metal listener I've ever talked to that cared about sound quality. That's nice to see.

What sound cards have you used (and liked the sound of) in the past? What did you like about the sound?
