I have a PIII-450 on an Intel SE400BX motherboard.
I am interested in using a slocket adapter to go even quicker, but the Intel website says that the latest BIOS upgrade they have available will not allow processors quicker than a PIII-450 to go on the mobo.
Has anyone managed to upgrade this motherboard with a quicker processor? Do I need to worry about the BIOS, or does anyone know a workaround if it would cause a problem?
The board would take the processor, but the current requirement is higher than the board supports. If you do use high speed processor you are at the risk of damaging the board.
Its just a current issue, so if by any means you can wire the Vss pins on the board so that it can deliver more current to the socket, you might be able to use it, but operations such as these would void any support from Intel.
