Anyway, if there was a way to get your files back without the recovery key, it would be a major flaw in the software. Plus I'm fairly sure it's against the rules here to help with hacking, since we can't be sure it's not a stolen hard drive.

ok , so what u can do , is use another os ( like linux , or backtrack 5 ) to open the drive . These os's are not related to windows , so anything windows related will not affect them . You can open the partition , transfer files elsewhere and be done with it
can boot the os through a pendrive using unetbootin
But this better not be a stolen drive
