The thermal diode works 100% of the time when used with a motherboard which uses the AMD SPECIFIED thermal protection circutry.

Currently I dont know of any mobos out which have it, but they should come eventually.

What motherboard company? Most don't have very good customer support.

LOL! there are no motherboards that work with the AXP's diode.

That's what he said.

The only one is the one AMD used, but that hardly counts of course.

I think Asus will be the first to market with this function, but they haven't released it yet.

ASUS does have it working on the A7V266-E and it is called C.O.P. I have one and it monitors the internal
diode. You have an option in BIOS to throttle down (default)or shut down if the system reaches
a default temp. Check review below.

Something Asus did bring to the table with this board is the CPU temperature monitoring feature. Before you get excited, while this is a great feature, this does not monitor the on-die diode now present in Palomino cores. Instead, it uses the much more familiar diode placed in the bottom of the CPU socket.

As you can see, it does not use the internal dioxide but nevertheless, this is an excellent feature. Now, overheating shouldn't be an issue!

I beleive the Asus AMD MPX based board was the first board to use the integrated diode. It is possible that some of the newer revision A7V266-E boards use it was well.

Tell me Meltdown, When Intel will made a diode that would prevent P4 from exploding when using AGPx2 video adapter ?

hehehe yeha i know. the video that AMD supplied me with didn't have a mobo name on it. so there is almost no way to tell what mobo it is. but the fact that it uses the new AMD 761 chip in it.
