The Retail Version comes with Heat Sink and Fan. Nicely packaged and protected in a Box. The OEM is just the Processor Chip, usually in a plastic cup. The OEM Version, you will have to buy a Heat Sink and Fan.
Just a note, if you buy the Retail Version. AMD is providing proper cooling and any replacement fan is not required.
I myself have the Epox 8KHA+ and an AMD Athlon 1800+XP also known as the Palamino. I purchased the Retail Version, and am completely satisfied with this combination and 512 meg of Crucial PC2100 Ram.
Im still lost... I just want a AMD 1.9. just the proc. I have plenty"o fans.. So I get the OEM.... right?
The retail version also comes with a 3 year warranty. OEM versions come with no manufacturer's warranty. You only get the 30 day money back guarantee from the shop at which you make the purchase.
Also note that there is no AMD Athlon XP 1.9. There is only the "Athlon XP 1900+", which is a marketing term for a 1.6GHz Athlon "XP" (Palomino). When you run utilities such as WCPUID you will be correctly informed that it is a 1.6GHz Athlon XP processor.
