Hi there,

I made a thread the other day, asking about the disadvantages to OEM, but forgot to query their updates. Do they get the same updates as the normal retail versions at the same time, from the small updates to the large service packs?

Also, when people say it does not come with Microsoft direct support, what does this mean exactly? What kind of support do they give to retail versions and how do people access it.

Thanks in advance.

windows oem gets the same updates..it is the same os it just that if there a hardware or software issue the owner of the oem license would have to call the vendor that made his pc or do his own support. microsoft would ask for a credit card to bill you a service fee if you contacted them to help you walk through an install or bug issue. a lot of use with oem software use microsoft msdn and other free services. micosoft has a lot of free classes for people and tech if you sign up for them on microsoft web pages. most of them are at microsoft campuses. some of the ones i gone to are how to make slipstream/network install image for work/home. how to do it and software needed to make your own custom windows 7/8 iso install cd.
