My wife’s Toshiba Satellite L300 is driving me nuts! Two of our grandkids got their hands on it recently and made a real mess of it. I knew it had malware and viruses on it so I decided to do the following:-

1. Removed HDD and wiped it clean using the “KillDisk” software

2. Replaced the HDD and tried to reinstall Win 7 using the installation disk

3 All I get now is the “Toshiba Leading Innovation” screen which then goes into a blank (black screen) with a flashing cursor which does not accept anything I type into it. There is also a continous “beep, beep, beep” which carries on until I switch off.

I’ve managed to get into Boot Manager and have repeatedly changed the boot order to CD/DVD but (just like Catch 22) it goes to the steps I’ve outlined above.

I’ve promised my wife that “no problem - I can fix this” and will lose a lot face if I have to take it to the local computer repair shop.

Any ideas anybody?

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

Without kowing exactly whcih configuration of beep you're hearing - space after the second before the third or something like that - I can only suggest you have a look at this site which might help you more:-

http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

It's also worth popping out one of the memory sticks if it has two and see if that helps. If it doesn't, put that one back and remove the other. Remove the hard disk and start up again - it could be that.

Hi :)

Just to add...BEEPS are normally a HARDWARE problem ...not windows or software...

All the best Brett :)
