Ok so im going to build my first pc soon, and I wanted toknow whether or not my AXP 1800 would still run at a decent temperature if I used the Heatsink that came with it (and no Arctic Silver II or anything, just the wax on the heatsink), or if i should consider another Heatsink and ARctic Silver II or something else......

If you're not planning on overclocking and don't care that won't get stellar although adequate preformance, the stock HSF will work perfectly for you.

 Have you ever tried cooking an egg on your HSF? Tasty.

The stock will do if you don't overclock your CPU.
Keep in mind that a good airflow inside your case lowers the CPU temp, but also the temp of the other components.
I think it's best to have atleast one fan blowing out in the upper rear (you don't need this if you have an AMD aproved powersupply with two fans) and an optionel fan in the bottom front blowing in.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground  .

Thanks for the help, I seriously doubt I'll overclock(since this is the first time I've built). I'm getting an Antec SX840 case with 400 Watt powersupply and 2 fans, most likely going to get an Nforce 415-D when it comes out (sound heh).I have a Geforce2 Ultra, so I wont need the built-in Geforce 2 MX (which the 415 won't have), and im getting 2 256MB sticks of Crucial or Corsair DDR(which is the better brand?), seem like a decent setup? (with the Athlon XP 1800 I mentioned of course)

Crucial and Corsair are both high quality memory brand, but Crucial is often cheaper the Corsair.
Seems like a good setup, good luck with it.

This is kind of off topic, but you guys are talking about air-flow, so maybe u guys can give me some advice. I have a P4-1.6, I only have 1 fan (the power supply fan), now I am considering to add one more fan. Should I add 1 at the front, or at the back? Thanks

If your case has enough ventilation holes in it then a fan on the back blwoing out will be best. With that setup hot air will be removed out of your case and cold air will flow through the holes to the inside of your case.

i don't know you might look at swiftech's mcx462 heatsink. that's probably the only that will keep a cpu cool. cause i mean the heatsink that amd themselves support and package with the cpu will not work with it.

[insert philosophical statement here]
