I have a Dim 2400 with IE.

When I open a new window, it keeps opening small. I have to click to
maximize. It never used to do this.

How/Where do I set it to that it will open maximized?

There is another way..which I happen to forget at the moment but try this.
Instead of clicking on the maximize button, use your mouse pointer to drag
the window at the edges until you have it full screen. After that time all
other windows should now open full screen.

As far as I know IE is NOT capable of opening up maximised!!

A work-around is to manually drag it to a usable size (by dragging out
its sides) & then closing the program down. When opening IE the next
time, it should remember this size & open to it!!

Have you tried this?
Close all opened IE windows except one. Maximize that IE window and
close it. Then try to open IE, it should open maximized.

Tim.

<Snip>
of course it's capable the way to do it is to open a one window in IE only
and then maximise it, wait a few seconds (1/2) and then close the window via
the X in the top right corner, and then all windows when opened again will
be opened max size or whatever size you want them to be dependant on the
size of the window that you originally closed

You are a font of misinformation, Mr. Burness. IE will open at
the last size closed, maximized if it was closed at maximized, or
the custom set "restore down" size if it was closed in the
"restore down" configuration.

Opening of a pop-up second or succeeding copy of IE will be
opened a) at the size directed by the web-site controlling the
pop-u, or b) at the size of the last pop-up if you are manually
opening a second copy of IE, or c) what a controlling app you are
operating directs.

There are some other ins and outs regarding special
circumstances, but the basic rule is that your IE will open at
the last setting the most recent instance of IE was closed.

That didn't do it. I had been trying that before I posted this note.
However, I did another suggestion which was to close all windows and then
maximize one window just by "stretching" it -- that worked.

There are also some spyware/viruses that I've seen that will minimize the IE
window. Use
Ad-Aware or something like it to cleanup the system.

A neat little feature in IE, for those who were not aware of it, is to
press the F11 key once IE is open. I think it was/is called 'kiosk'
mode. //bigsley

I don't know that it is called "kiosk" mode, but what the F11 key
in IE6 does is:

"Toggle between full-screen and regular views of the browser
window."

[Found at IE6 | Help | Index | F11 | Viewing and Exploring Web
Pages]

This was /not/ the OP's problem, and might discomfort the
unexpecting when all of their tool/status/whatever bars
disappeared from IE6 and a web page took over their whole screen.
