512 L2 cache and Voice recognition

Heyya.
Any thoughts - is it a good idea to wait til prices of new P4s drop, in that I suspect 512 L2 cache might be handy for voice recognition.
Also, will laptops with P3Ms running at 512 L2 cache do a decent job on voice recognition (provided there is decent ram of course) or are laptops still useless for voice recognition due to terrible sound cards? been having nasty thoughts bout Dell Inspiron 8100 in this regard.
But can this be avoided by using USB microphone?????
Cheers all.

SSE2 will help voice recognition more than the 512k of L2. Make sure your program uses SSE2.
