Ac97 Audio or SB PCI128

I just finished buliding my new machine!!

I have Epox 8KHA+ mobo and it has onboard AC 97 Audio. I have a PCI SoundBlaster 128. I didn't notice much difference between them. Anyone know which one's better?

probably the sound blaster pci 128, but they are both pretty basic sound solutions.

PCI 128 is better.
Ensoniq PCI 128 sucks, but the Creative with a slightly different chip is decent.

Disable the Ac97 and go for the SB 128 PCI.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground .

OK, so I hear everyone's for PCI 128, but I don't see any reasoning behind it. Can you enlighten me?

Both sound chips are 4 channels capable,both are 128 voices,both are 16bits and both gives reatively good sounds(and bty SB cards uses AC'97 codec)...it really is up to you and what your listening at (games,mp3,DIVX or if your playing sound edition software).
Try one then the other and decide by yourself.

Ac97 takes lots of your CPU utilisation, and is in my opinion of lower quality.

go with the Soundblaster onboard sounds sucks unless it's a C-media chip which is decent. And saving those cpu cycle with the pci card will give u alittle more fps in games

That's what I would have suggested too, but if as varlo suggests the SB card uses the AC'97 codec anyway, then it won't really offload CPU usage.
