If there are video drivers installed, I freeze at the bios splash screen (and can't even f8 into safe mode). I can select my f2 (bios setup) or f7 (boot options) but it just hangs at the splash screen and never leaves.
I was able to boot from CD a few times, in which I did fresh installs of windows 7 pro after formatting my hard drive. Unfortunately, my system doesn't even boot from CD anymore but just sits at that splash screen. On the fresh installs I was able to do, my computer can run anything and install any drivers until I try to install the AMD ones. As soon as I would install the AMD 7970m drivers with Catalyst Control Center, my computer hangs at bios splash the next time you try to boot. And now that I can't even boot from CD anymore, I can't even do a fresh install again.
This problem persists even with the hard drive removed.
I'm guessing this leaves the problem to being GPU, RAM, processor, in that order? I'm thinking the GPU probably died on me, which is sad considering this laptop is only like 7 months old. Some solutions ive seen are to just get rid of the catalyst control center, but unfortunately with the AMD 7970m it's the only way for me to set my switchable graphics.
