My neice is 11 years old, and has never had a computer. I encountered an old abandoned system and decided to spruce it up a little as a birthday present for her. The system is (don't laugh) a Cyrix 166. When booting, the BIOS indicates a checksum error, restoring the original configuration. Whatever, no problem. It says "Press F1 to continue" and when I do, nothing happens. When I did get the computer booted up, everything worked splendidly EXCEPT the keyboard! I've tried 2 PS2 keyboards, and 2 AT keyboards with PS2 converters, and still nothing. Now here's the strange part: If I hit DEL to enter setup upon power on, the keyboard work fine in the BIOS setup program. What gives?? How can I fix this? My neice would be very grateful for your input
get to bios/cmos by using setup key when you get into bios/cmos setup use set defaults this will help make original coms be setup and i would use ps2 style keyboard ans ps2 mouse
