Atikmdag.sys crash

I get an error related to this file everytime i try to sleep my pc it either locks up and i have to turn it off physically or it crashes and turns itself off, this has happened ever since ive started playing games on my computer. With my old GPU (also an ATi card) and my new card.

I've googled this and it seems to be a problem with CCC but all the entries about this error are very old. It has been suggested that you uninstall CCC and run drivers only. Ive never even seen the option for drivers only it always seem to automatically install CCC for me. But if i did do that i need to beable to switch between monitors using hotkeys?

has anyone else come across this error or know of a definitive way around this?

I would suggest uninstalling GPU drivers, having a good clean, reinstalling drivers and running chkdsk and sfc.

What drivers are you running? I've had this issue in the past (just a couple updates ago), so I reverted back to previous ones until newer ones came out.

Of course make sure to do proper clean first.
