Heh, good luck. I may snap myself and get a KT266A and a GF3 Ti-200 :) What I really want is a nForce 415-D and a GF4 460 MX but I'm not sure I can hold out for much longer. I can only hope that a 415-D comes out next week and the GF4 MXs either aren't that exciting or are expensive :) Oh yeah, the XP 1900+ and 512 MB of PC 2100 I also plan on getting will remain the same, either way.

just be careful with that 24" rounded IDE cable.
its longer than specified, and could cauze data corruption.
i had to ditch mine.
at stock 133fsb they were ok.... but i got data corruptin on them at anything higher.

How did you correlate data corruption on the cable with FSB?

I would have assumed that the IDE controller had it's own bus clock and would not be clocked off the PCI/FSB clocks?

Is the Radeon 8500 the retail version? There's actually not as big a difference in performance as some people think, but it does make a difference.

easy.
a quite linerar relationship.
on the kt133a, and many other mobo's the IDE speed is obviously the same as the PCI. and thats tied into the fsb divided by 4.
at 133 there were no errors
140 had some,
145 considerably more
and 150 was just corruption central.

increasing Mhz increases the cycles per second.
greater chance of standing waves, bit degredation, and lowering of S/N ratio.

I was thinking of the problem you encountered overclocking the bus speed.

oh yeah. that was another issue.

old IDE drive + FSB overclocking = badbadbad *grins*

odd that it managed to do perminent damage though.
