Right, so I haven't played D&D that much. I played for the first "real"
time (not counting computer games) several years ago for a single weekend.
I bought a cheap set of dice from a local store for the game.

Fast-forward to several months ago (after a couple of location changes),
when I finally found a local group to play with. I've been playing for a
while now, but have just started to actually -look- at my dice closely.

They're lopsided.

I swear to you I can SEE the fact that these dice are "squished" in certain
directions. Which would explain why my rolls are routinely sub-10.

I was wondering: Does anyone have any online stores or anything that
they've bought dice from? Someone they know they got decent dice from? I'd
ask for local gaming shop recommendations, but quite honestly I probably
don't live where you do, and such recommendations would not assist me.

I went to my local gaming shop and asked them to order a specific set
of dice from Chessex. They kindly ordered the dice for me, and I got a
very nice set about two weeks later. In fact, I've done this a few
times.

Chessex does not, IIRC, sell to individuals.

Well I ordered directly from Chessex, last summer. My entire group
pooled together
and we got about 8 sets of dice, 20 or so extra d6s, and a few other
assorted dice.
Yes, our order was large, but I saw nothing on their website that said
anything
about not selling to individuals.

I placed an order, used my credit card, and got my dice in about 4
days. Might have
actually been able to get it sooner had I paid a bit more for
shipping. Decent
price, and decent dice.

It seems that you are right. I remember there being some reason that I
had my local shop order it, though. I can't remember why.

Local shop gave you some kind of discount perhaps? Sometimes companies
can buy from places like Chessex, and if they buy enough can get a
discount
of some sort from the company, or just by the virtue of being a
company can
get discounted products.

Sometimes local gaming shops pass some of that discount on, if they
can.

Who knows. Not really a big deal either way. At least we all are clear
in the knowledge that we can buy directly from Chessex if we have the
need or desire in the future.

Have a good day.
