P3 500 or Celeron 600@900

Which one is better P3 500 or Celeron 600 overclocked to 900. I currently have the celeron in my computer, and would like to know if putting the p3 in it would make it faster(more fps in games). The p3 500 is from an older computer. The motherboard is an Asus P3v4x.

Well my friend, it all depends on whether or not that P3 is a Katmai or a Coppermine and even at that, the P3 would have to be overclocked to a 133MHz FSB to make it 667MHz. The Celeron 600 @ 900 will run circles around the P3 500 (Katmai or Coppermine) assumign its not overclocked....even if the P3 was able to hit 667MHz i dont think its enough to catch up with a Celery @ 900......ask Crashman........overall the Celeron would eb afster, and in other things, there probably equal........but basically theres no point, unless u just wanan do it for fun, than go for it...see which one is faster for YOU.... =)

I think C900 will be faster. But you have to try and see is the CPU stable or not. I have my C300 running at 450, no problem

I agree, but keep in mind the 300 --> 450 was the PERFECT overclock. There has never been a better one cuz the PII-450 was the exact smae chip as the celeron 300 with less cache!! If you do have a stable system the 900 mhz will overpower the faster per clock speed of the P3 by sheer speed, although it wont be as much a diff as one might expect =)

A Celeron 600@900 will perform on par with a PIII 650E-700E, depending on the application.

what about my cely 1ghz at 1.33 133fsb. thats also a perfect overclock. quite nice at the stock 1.475 volts.

yeah its a tuly with 256k cache. sandra cpu bench clocks it as fast as a athlon 1.33/p4 1.6. not bad for $78.
