i have a 533.. how the heck do i tell if it's EB or B? i that the EB/B was just a typo whenever i saw it but after reading here i find that there is an EB and a B.
if i do have an EB (133 FSB, coppermine core?) would i get any real performance upgrade (in terms of web design, photoshop, general use) with a new processor (ie PIII 800 or above) or more ram (i have 128 x 3 right now) or both?
533-800 is a marginal benefit on the same architecture.
Let us know what model motherboard you have (if you know) or as much detail about your system as possible (memory type (PC100/133) etc. and we'll see what the moe effective way to upgrade for minimum $$ is going to be.

The EB is coppermine, the B is Katmai, both have a 133MHz bus. I suggest going straight to a PIII 1000EB for the small price difference. The only "B" I've seen was a 600B, but do not doubt the existance of a 533B.
i have a jetway 993AN. very interesting motherboard. it has both slot1 and socket370 (but you cannot use both at the same time), and a bus that ranges from 66,100, 133, 150. it has 3 memory slots, right now filled with
128MB x 3 PC-133. currently i have an ati rage 128 fury and a 533B/EB.
actually i have already spent $$$ on a P4 w/RDRAM, but i'm planning on leaving that computer for my younger brother, so i know i probably won't be able to live with a P3 533 and that's why i'm looking for the cheapest/best upgrade.
