How much has the thunderbird Die change from the XP die changed from each other.

The XP die has a different dimension. It includes roughly a half million additional circuits for the SSE and the intelligent prefetch, etc. A significant part of the chip was redesigned between the two chip generations, with a lot of the core redesigned to improve efficiency.
