Asking 'cos I don't know. Bought an AXP1800+ and on boot up it gives me 1150MHz. yes no?

ic thanks, so I'm actually running slower than I should be?

Ignorance here but how do I change the bus?

Yes, raise the FSB to 133MHz where it should be and you'll be fine.

FSB = 133mhz
CPU = 1531mhz :)

Now Why would it have FSB been @ 100mhz, Temp issue? Looked @ temp in bios before I put up FSB and was 47c it's now at arouns 50-51c. I guess this is idle spped? This would increase when playing games etc right? What is a safe temp?

Maybe I should put it back to 100mhz till I buy a better heat sink.

A lot of questions I know but thanks for the help.

oh :) Just that in the other thread they where saying anything over 55c was a bad thing.

By default, mobo set at 100MHz FSB. You have to manually change to 133MHz.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

The FSB was at 100MHz by default, not due to temperature issues. when i booted my Tbird 1200 for the first time, it said 900 because the FSB was 100 and the multiplier was 9.0.

temps in the low 50s are ok, but the 40s are better. what kind of heatsink are you using? usually the ones that come with a system aren't that good. i use the thermaltake volcano II, its not that good but i modified it and i idle around 40C now.

I have never owned an AMD that was lower than 52c in temp. And have had no probs.AMD_man is correct in his post. If you read the official specs from AMD on their chips, they can take 95. I think they are insane and would not attempt to test this. Dont worry about anything in the 50's. I have had several hover around 65 with no probs. But most hardware nuts will tell you 60's are too high and shut the comp down NOW. THey are too paranoid.

year 2010: Intel? Whose that?

hehehe
invest in a swiftech MCX-462 ;-)
41C, 17C room, 1200C overclocked to 1333Mhz @ 1.83v.

but you are right...

the core temps depends ALOT on the make and type of motherboard. some have the probe close to the chip, giving hotter temps... asus tends to be this way.
bottom line is:

run it at full load. does it crash? no? then your fine :)

Sorry LHGPooBaa, but I get similar temps with my GlobalWin WBK38. With temps that high on an MCX462, I'm willing to bet that you have poor airflow in your case.

I get 30C with a casetemp off 26C and I use a AlphaPAL6035 with Delta 7k rpm fan, and, ofcourse, a lot of casefans.
AMD Athlon XP1600+ not OC'ed, yet...

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground  .

I have a coolmaster or some such in. Just the one that came with the sys. I'll look into fans and try to get it into the 40s I think.

a little. bad crap generic case. ive done my best cutting fan holes though.
and there is a medium powered 2900rpm thermaltake 80mm exhaust fan there.
no intake fans though. too damn noisy.

my beast has always run on the warm side. i suspect its cauz its never been a fantastic overclocking chip. *shrugs*
temps are nice and stable, performance is good, noise isnt too bad.

oh yeah... ive removed the high speed 80mm delta from the MCX-462. even with the rheostat it was still doing 4000rpm and too loud.

so now i have a 2 80mm fans, a 3900rpm 4pin pabst on the HS, the 3 pin with 4 pin converter thermaltake as exhaust, both hooked up to the rheostat... can make the system considerably quieter without too much heat gain.

hard drives are seperated by 1 3.5" drive bay. and they runn pretty cool.

I have the MC-462 on a 1.33 running 1.533@1.8V I dropped the Delta and use a Sunon hi-flow case fan. pretty quiet now and my temps only head to 43 degrees max. under constant load.

well there u go.
1533 is nice

my 1200C can barely reach 1450... and then, anything above 1400 requires the full juice my mobo can supply, 1.94v.

That's unlucky - what board and memory do you have?

board is an iwill kk266-plusR. (kt133a) memory is 512mb pc150 sdram.
also had a a7v133 earlier.

this time round im going PC2700 + 166fsb :)

but as u may have seen, ive been whining about the lack of benchmarks done at 166/166.
they all seem to do 133/133 and asychronous fsb/mem 133/166.
*sighs*

Agreed, who cares about DDR333 on a 266MHz bus! That SUX!!
