P4 CPU Temps

I have a new P4 system as described below. My case has 2 4" fans:1 suck, 1 blow. I also have the stock Intel CPU fan and heatsink. During normal usage like email and browsing, my CPU temp is around 28C to 34C. Yetserday I was encoding a MPEG-2 video and it was a large file that took 2 hours to complete. During that process, the task manager showed 100% CPU utilization. I checked the temp and it showed 48C or 119F! Is this too hot?
I've never left the stock HSF on before, but from everything I read, this was a good unit. I even read a review where a high perf unit was worse! The HSF came with a black thermal pad, but I wondered if some Artic Silver(or similar) would be better?

Thanks

MIKE

You should be OK, you have nice idle temps and don't worry until your temp is higher then 55-60C and you're getting crashes.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground   .

COOL!(pun) Thanks guys. I have overclocked today from 1900 to 2094 so far with no problems. It is at 36C currently as I type. I may try for even higher later.

Thanks,

MIKE
