Hello,
How do you verify if overclocking is successful?
First, I suppose boot screen should say higher CPU speed than the original one.
Second, How do you know its performance has increased?
Anywhere I can download CPU benchmark program?
Third, is it enough to be safe and comfortable?
Thank you very much.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

If you can run Prime95's torture test until the CPU and case temperatures have reached their maximum and then run it for another 5 minutes (or even 1 hour), your overclock can be considered successful. No need to let it run for longer, because in real life you will not be able to whip the CPU like this.

The reason why Prime95 is especially well suited for verifying PC stability is because computational errors and errors in memory are detected, causing the test to terminate. Other test-programs will keep running until the CPU itself locks up. So if you don't reach that point, you will not always notice that the CPU is actually having problems.

well if im pushing the ram or fsb i run a
mem intensive tester (memtest86)
or encode a divx movie to test the hard drive & controlers.

for the cpu if its an AMD it HAS to be (Toast!)
gets the cpu the hottest of all stress testing programs.
as my computer runs cure for cancer all the time i.e. 100% usage all the time, i would run toast for at least 2 hours.

too little voltage to the core almost always leads to a freeze... too hot is a bit harder to identify, but if it keeps locking up at a certain temp u have your answer. (53C exactly for my particular chip & mobo)

Overclocked athlon 1200C @ 8.5 x 166FSB + PC2700 = GOOD!
