512 mb of ram
100 gb hardrive

I really don't want to build a cpu so can i get opinions on this or can you point me too better all around system for that kinda money?

For that price the ram is most likely sdram, a performance killer, If its rambus, go for it. If not, you can do much better.

P4's starve on anything less than RAMBUS. Anything over 1gig starves on SDRAM.

find out if its RDRAM and also find out what kind of video card is installed on it. also what r u going to be using it for? surfing the net, games, etc?

edit:
also i would advise against buying online, they have a tendency to have a cheap power supply and you really dont want to go through the trouble of sending the computer back. the best advice i can give u is to either build ur own(which isnt that difficult if u get something like a retail axp w/ fan and a NVIDIA mobo) or try to find a P4+RDRAM or a axp(doesnt hurt too bad with sdram) system
Edited by HeavyMetal on 02/11/02 02:14 AM.

Not only the ram, You should find out if it's a P4 Northwood 1.8A GHz, or a Willy (old P4, no A beside speed). Personally I'd get an Athlon XP Based setup, save that cash or dump the savings into an extra 512MB of ram......just cuz u can =)
