Just purchased an ASUS A7M266 thinking it was cool with an AMD XP 1700+, (I'm usually better at paying attention to details...missed this one though.) Got the motherboard but there's no controls to adjust it to the Palimino core, like the A7V266. Am I cool throwing the AMD XP into the A7M266 as is or do I need to change some settings. Help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Thanks.

The A7M266 is so poor performing, you'd probably be better off exchanging it for an ECS K7S5A. All the benefits of the ALi Magik chipset plus extras for ~US$50.

I thought a thought, but the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I had thought.

This line confused me, are you saying that the ecs 7k7s5a has the alimagik chipset?

It has the sis735 btw.

if you do have the option to change the motherboard change it, but if not the best you can do is a bios update.

I believe he though the A7M266 had the Ali chipset, not the AMD 761.

Never mind, I was thinking of the A7A266 (that has the Ali Magik chipset).

I thought a thought, but the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I had thought.
