More about : celeron duron
my advice would be get a Duron. it's faster then the celeron and it cost less 2. the chip it self dosn't actually "runs quiter then the other" the noise made are simply from the fan thats in your computer.and be sure 2 at least get a geforce 2 mx based card if u want 2 get the most out of your computer, dont' get intergrated graphics .256 mb of ram would be also be recommanded.
Yes, the chips themselves make no noise, and the retail heatsink for the duron is rather quiet.
But as mentioned above the duron is cheaper, and it has an upgrade path(you can put an axp or tbred in the same mobo in 6 months if you want).
Duron is the hands down winner IMO.

If he's looking to build a bargian computer, I'd recomend using the Nforce boards with built in sound, network, and video. You won't get stellar 3D performance, but the performance will be as good as most value cards you can buy, and the total package is cheeper. And the sound is suposedly supurb.

AT stock speeds and equal clock to clock Ex Duron 1Ghz vs. Celeron 1Ghz, the Duron is BY FAR a MUCH faster CPU....as for noise, again, the CPU doesnt make noise......the fans do.......and as Matisaro said, the Retail Boxed Duron comes with a rather decent HSF, pretty quiet and decent cooling.....but performance, the Duron blows away the Celery.

The sounds of the nice 4Bbl Carb. on my305 H.O. V8, Rumbling Dual Exhaust, and the tearing of the roads from my 3.73 rears is just to much to hold in a little 2 foot by 1 foot box *cough* Computer Chassi *Cough*.....LoL

what is the cfm on your carb? and what year is the z28?
do you know your 1/4 mile time? maybe about 14.3?

LoL....finally.....a car AND computer guy =)
Well, I'm not running a Holley carb. so I don't know the exact CFM...its a Rochestor Quadrajet 4Bbl.
The car is an '84 but the motor has had a few things tweaked.....well not really tweaked, more like made to run at what it SHOULD......as for ¼-Mile time, its around 14 Flat....But im not really all about going fast, it's all about how QUICK I can get to that speed, therefore, I love torque....... =)
What are you running?
My dad's Z28 is better....hes got the VERY last 2nd Gen. ever made, I'd say thats my favourite body style....he's got a 350 5.7 Litre motor with also a 4Bbl. Rochester Quadrajet, headers, traction Bars.......sweet car =) Don't know about Quarter Mile times, but I know his is quicker than mine.... =*(

not bad at all. a 390 cfm on a 5.7 liter is good. correct me if wrong, is it 380bhp and 301 torque? my boss had one of those. he gained .7 of a second just by puting posi's on it. the imbalanced wight in the back of those cars make one wheel spin and the other one just sits there.

A 5.7 liter should have a minimum of 600 cfm to make power.

i can go that way too.
supercharge it and put in nitro with an ultralight flywheel and hard valve springs and polish the ports and............ so on.
it's call making a complemen instead of saying, Geeeee thats insufficient, you need to upgrade. and still it is a good carb, maybe not all that high on cfm, but it performs well.

I wasn't trying to be mean (my nick isn't AMDMeltdown you know). If it came across that way, sorry about that. Not sure where you got 390 cfm from, but on an engine that big, you'd get detonation (as opposed to detonator drivers).
Quadrajets flowed between 750 cfm and 800 cfm, depending on the engine. They were good on gas because the primaries were small while the secondaries were HUGE (like Northwoods with 8K of L1 and 512K of L2 cache). But performance-wise, engines with them ran as well as P4 vs Athlon XP's

Pretty Close scamtron........except that the Torque rating has closer to the amount of HP than that =)
and WITHOUT a posi rear end thats what the car would do (spin only one tire while the other just sits there), but with 3.73 gear ratio in the rear differential, its both tires spinning at 100% polarity.....GREAT for off the line......4.10's are even better, but you can't go to fast with them, you'd be reving like a MOFO at just 100 Km/H. Than again, 4.10's are meant for pure take off (0-60, or in my case, 0-100 Km/H)
as far as the Arctic Silver III on my carb. well, I really don't know why I'd wanna put it on there in the first place, I midus well stick like 8 (total of 16) Volcano 6Cu.+ on my valve covers eh? LoL
Ohh, and 390cfm for the quadrajet is DEFFINENTLY wrong.......
But scamtron your right....has anyone else here ever seen the size of the 4 Barrels on those Quadrajets ???
Oh My God!!! Well, for what it is anyways, there pretty huge.........and the sound.....ohhh don't get me started.....

spinin' round round like a record baby round round round round. if i remember correctly the 4BBL carbs go from 390-500 cfm. i wasn't sure about yours and the other thing is i'm a europian car freak and also japanies, but since i raced american cars alot i know some specs, not alot. the one my boss had was a 750 holly. and it didn't touch the cylinder head, therefore it perfomed really well as it remained cool.

Between the two, duron is better. There are also more upgrade possibilities if you get a duron. As for noise, that depends on the fan, but I don't believe either cpu need any substantial cooling alternatives, retail fan should be fine.

Agreed, I've got a '93 Mustang 5.0 which I've done a bunch of light mods on including a Cobra intake manifold (upper and lower). I'm also running 3.73 rears, so 1st gear is totally unnecessary unless I'm racing or starting on a hill. Due to the ample torque, in normal driving I normally only use the gears 2nd, 4th, and 5th, and still rarely exceed 2000 RPM.
When I used to race, I ran in the mid 13s.
But I vastly prefer a truck for city driving, so my Mustang's just sitting there and hardly used anymore. I can't think of selling it though, it's the last year they made that body style before they "girlified" it.
