Hi,
First, I know a lot's been said about this, but I *really* cannot get this
to work.
Here's what I've done so far:
I *can* send pictures, text, vCard files and the like from my T5 to my
mobile phone (Mitsubishi m21i), vice versa, using the infrared port.
Conclusion: infrared communications between the phone and the palm are fine.
Now, I want to use my palm/phone combination to at least get to my e-mail
once in a while when I'm on the road. The m21i does not have Bluetooth and
I'm not planning on buying a new phone before long.
It *does* have a built-in modem, though. So:
On my T5 I go into Prefs -> Connection
I create a new connection, which I call 'm21i modem'. Settings:
Connect to: Modem
Via: Infrared
Dialing: TouchTone
Volume: Low
[Details]
Speed 57.600 bps
Country: Netherlands
Flow Ctl: Automatic
Init String: +cgdcont=1,"IP"
(I don't know what this initialisation string means, what does +cgdcont
stand for and where can I find these settings on the internet?)
Then I go into Prefs -> Network
I create a new Service. Settings:
Service: Zon Gratis
User Name: [my login name]
Password: [my password]
Connection: m21i modem
Phone: 0367500300
[Details]
Connection type: PPP
Idle timeout: Never
Query DNS: [V]
IP Address: [V] Automatic
Then I make sure the infrared ports of both my palm and my mobile are
aligned.
On my mobile:
1. I activate the modem
2. I activate the infrared port
On my Palm:
1. I go back to the mainscreen of the Network section in Prefs
2. I press [Connect].
Immediately, I get the error message [Connect Error - An error occured
opening the network connection.].
It's driving me nuts! Can anyone shed some light on this? And please, do not
tell me to buy another phone or use Bluetooth or both...
Thanks in advance!
Rgds.,
Guido
