Cd burner is not working windows 7

My CD burner tells me that there is no CD in the drive, which isn't true! I don't know if my CD burner driver is not working, or if my CD burner is bad?

i suggest you check the driver first from the device manger.
and see if its working properly.if not,disable the driver then enable it again in the next restart.else check the driver if its properly connected from the board.
updating the driver is also an option,although its not really necessary.
