or into intel. i think this will force intel to do something about the performance gap, i hope.

P3 was/is so good, even at 133 fsb. its like intel took a step back or something. i'm lovin my P3.

scamtron, your page exceeded its bandwidth limit while I was perusing it!!! What a travesty!!. BTW, are those Lopez pics ligit, cause they don't look like it.

I think they should name a Hammer after the infamous UT Impact Hammer.

I know how you feel mate...reading Anandtechs artical on the Hammer was the icing on the cake for me.

AMD ZONE Have a short video clip (30 sec) of the Hammer in action. Shows a close up of the system (CPU & M/B) including the MS Word/Excel test scripts and 64 Bit Linux demo running in the background....enjoy.

HAMMER TIME !!

P.S 5 notes on the Solo M/B was brillant.

Scamtron, I dont know why your cryin over 64bit units. As if anyone on these boards could actually use or utilize such a processor in their homes. I dont think 64bits will speed up your warez copy of Dreamweaver. There will be no 64bit J-Lo watcher, no specialized 64bit Morpheus. You'll have to download and view your porn with a measly 32bits. You have no need to worry or get excited about 64 bits.

Blah, Blah Blahh, Blahh, blahh blah blahh, blah blah.

Easy boy.
It looks like Hammer might do some real Intel spanking. Not the kind of spanking that Fugger/Melty do when they are alone with their P4's though. Sledge is supposed to be server version and Claw the personal version. Sledge has dual channel memory vs single. It would be nice if the sledge only a little more than Claw (like Tbird/Duron)but who knows.

It would be nice, but AMD is trying to move into the real server market - a better analogy would be Sledge:Claw as P4Xeon:p4 - except Hammer is going to obliterate the P4s. Most likely the Sledge will be pretty expensive - which I won't mind just so long as my Athlon priced ($150-300) ClawHammer out performs all of the wimpy RDRAM (and dual-channel DDR) based $500 P4s.

I thought a thought, but the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I had thought.
