Im having a generic non-pnp monitor on standard vga graphics adapter. but i can not adjust the screen resolution from low to higher level my laptop is toshiba satellite L655 and has an intel pentium inside.

Choice of display resolutions is only available after installing the correct display driver. Download the display driver for your laptop model from Toshiba's website. Go here and choose your country: http://www.toshiba.co.jp/worldwide/

You will need to get the full model number from underneath. L665 is not the complete model number. It's usually followed by a hyphen, then five or six more characters.
