Just a quick question guys, does anyone have this mobo/cpu combo out there? I read up on Leadtek websites that only the F1 versions or greater support XP, I`m lucky enuff to have a F1, but Im what speed XP`s its possible to use with it.

I don't know the mobo but anyway my brother is starting to build an Athlon based set up and he would definitely tell you to get the xP1600 over the XP1700 apparently it's cheaper, runs faster and overclocks well. It seems like a good value CPU to me. Hopefully someone can tell you if your mobo supports it.

The 1600 does NOT run faster than the 1700+, lol, its impossible for that to be true first of all.

Secondly.
On pricewatch, the 1600+ costs 103, and the 1700+ costs 108, a speed grade up, for only 5 bucks, you would be an idiot NOT to do it.

The best price/performance is the 1700+(maybe the 1800+ because its listed at 133$) The 1700 will on average overclock higher than the 1600+ as well.

Er...yeah was wondering about that 1600+ remark. Well thanks for your replies, I`ve had it answered on another forum, yes it does support it(Up to 1800+ apparently), and I will be purchasing the 1700+. Should actaully make my Gf3 work about. Well, its gotta beat a Duron 800 =)

MOst deffinatly, I have recently had first hand experience with a gf3, and a duron 900 is limiting it.(A 30% core/mem overclock on a ti200=600pts more in 3dmark=deffinate cpu limiting).

Your gf3 can run free and wild on the new 1700+

yeah sorry my newbie price/performance/value leanings have been exposed! At the time I ordered the 1600(1.4Ghz) the price was $106 compared to the 1700(1.47Ghz)at $128,a diff off $22 for a miniscule difference in real world applications and a 1800(1.53Ghz?) at about $160 seemed unjustifiable at the time, even $5 diff is $5 spent. We put the money towards the KR266A,cooling and ATA133 and so far have got the 1600 up to a conservative and stable 1.6Ghz easily justifying the original logic, well to me anyway!! Hey it'll be Hammerhead time soon anyway and they'll all look slow!! I've gotta get back to school now...
