My vga port has stopped working (Pavlion dv6 under W7 Home Edition

I can't run an external monitor from my Pavilion dv6 laptop. It used to work and now doesn't.

Neither can I locate the driver in Devie Maagr,althoug I can see it in File manager(Windows\system32\drivers\va.sys

Can you please tell me ) how to locate iDevice Manager an b)wee to tain a replacement driver

make sure you have the newest video drivers installed
to find out what video card you are using download and gpu-z
go to either amd or nvidia's webside to get the newest drivers depending on the card you have

Thanks for replying.

I think the problem is more basic than I have suggested.

In Device Manager the VGA port is not shown, even when I ask to see hidden items. It used to work, it is physically there, but surely I should be able to see it in Device Manager. If I could, I could uninstall and update the driver.

Any thoughts?
