No sound in windows 7 even after installing sound driver

I use windows 7 on my Dell inspiron 1525. It was working properly till yesterday. today after I had a restart to my laptop i found that the sound of my laptop is not working. what could be the problem. even the sound card is properly installed and I've installed the driver for sound. yet sound id not working. please help me.
