Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.....please assist on this

is this a dedicated sound card or on-board sound....in device manager check to see if there is a big yellow exclamation point next to your audio device,if there is try reinstalling the audio device drivers and see if that helps.....

Go to the website and see if there are any updated drivers for you device. Download the latest drivers. Go to My computer/control panel/device manager and see if there are any yellow exclamation marks by the sound controller. If there are uninstall the device and re-install the latest driver and see what happens after reboot. Sometime you can mute the device by accident. On the right hand side of your tool bar check your volume control to make sure the mute box isn't checked.
