What's my CPU

I have to inventory abut 100 machines for an organization I am doing volunteer work for. I need to know the type CPU and Speed for each machine, e.g., Celeron 700, Pentium 466.

I know that info is in the registry. How do I search the registry to find it?

goto www.voodoofiles.com

do a search for WPCPUID, and download the 2k2 version. Install it on each comp (only like 20 megs) and it will tell you a lot about the CPU.

DirectX, type in Start/Run: dxdiag
Or go to Start\Program Files\Accessories\System Tools\System Information, it should show.
There are many ways, including the BIOS too, so you choose!

when the pc is first turned on, the bios shows the cpu speed and all sorts of useful information, unless it's one of those oem computers where the bios only displays a graphic logo.

WCPUID will do the trick... fits in a floppy and you don't need to install it.

i had to use it at my work also as i needed to know what machine had what cpu and what speed.

this program will even go as far as to tell you how much RAM, OS type and what SP as well as what motherboard you have if it can detect it. gives you more then that also. such as cache design. well you get the picture.
