download a virsu scanner like malwarebytes, install it, scan your system, install the sd card, scan it.
Some viruses hide the files so you may be able to unhide them.

I use Nod32 and sometimes when i put a friends usb on my computer, Nod32 automatically removes it... You can also scan the Micro sd memory

I have the same problem, I used my memory card with a memory card reader in a public computer of a touristic place in Mexico - all my pictures disappeared. I can view my pictures in my camera, but once it's connected to a PC, my pictures just wouldn't show at all ( as if my memory card was empty, however under the properties I can see that the 8GB memory card is almost full).

When I got home I noticed that there is a new folder created on the memory card called "recycling" and an exe file on it. My AVG immediately spotted a Trojan and removed it in a sec. The trouble is that even though the card is virus free now I still can't access the pictures on the card - almost 7GB worth!

Some of you said that a virus might hide the photos and it's possible to unhide them. How is that possible? I am a bit scared to format the whole thing and use a data recovery software, I would rather do this as a last resort.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot.

Some of the virus makes the folders inside Flash Drives, Pen Drives, Memory Cards etc to Hide.

If your memory card properties showing there is Data inside and you can't see nothing inside..,,! Then use Command Prompt Commands to see them.

Here it is how it works.

open cmd
type i: (Your Drive Letter) and enter
type attrib -s -h /s /d *.* and press enter

You can now recover your Data from virus infected memory card.

Your memory card might be infected with a shortcut virus when you plugged in the memory card and does not open the actual contents on the drive or see nothing...1st thing you need to do is to scan your card first with an antivirus program then try this software

Decoderspot

many thanks you saved us

Also, I'd like to share -L1GHTGAM3R- reply for similar problem at notebook review

1. click start>>run>>type in "cmd"
2. type the location of your flash drive.. e.g. "d:", "e:", "f:", etc..
3. type "dir /ah"
*you will now see the files/folders with hidden attributes
4. type "attrib [name of file/folder] -r -a -s -h"
*if you're going to unhide files, you should type the whole name plus the extension (format).. example "attrib party.jpg -r -a -s -h"
**if you have folders with 6 characters and above, type the first 6 characters then "~1".. example for folder named "birthday"
"attrib birthd~1 -r -a -s -h"
5. you should repeatedly type dir /ah after unhiding some files/folders so you'll know if they're now working or not..
6. now check you flash drive.. it should be there..
