My challenges started over a week ago with my son's computer (Dec 2011 build) after I suspect he received some unknown Windows updates. The computer started randomly would providing a spectacular BSOD. Virus protection was all up to date and I haven't been able to pinpoint the issue. Suspecting HW or driver conflicts I've checked out the HW, cooling is good, memory tested fine and reloaded all drivers and Windows 7 from DVD.
My challenge in the reload this weekend however is that I mistakenly put Win 7 on the Application drive not the SSD. Hoping that would be okay for the test as to whether the reload fixed the BSOD, I allowed all the updates etc. to complete.
When I got ready to stress the system I noticed that the SSD had disappeared from Windows including the device list and it also disappeared from the BIOS listing. What is going on and how do I get it back? I'd like to just make sure that the reload fixed the BSOD then move the OS back to the SSD.
Our configuration running well for over a year is as follows:
Asus p8z68-v pro/gen3
16 GB memory
MSI GTX 560 Ti twin frozr II
SSD 128MB boot (C drive Win 7, Virus protection)
WDC 2TB (F drive for program and applications)
I really need the help -- thanks for any ideas you guys have,
