How can you tell if your monitor is ccfl or led

Is there a way of identifying whether a screen/monitor has LED or ccfl technology just by looking at it when it is not turned on?

if you take the whole thing apart, yes, absolutely. without taking anything apart, doubt it...

if the monitor is working, turning it on and staring at the bottom of the screen or looking at how completely black screen is displayed could give you some clues

my advice is look up the model of LCD that you have, I'm sure there'll be info of whether it's cfl or led backlit

Usually if the laptop has a LED display it will be listed in the specs.
