Hello,
rookie question....all of a sudden wallpaper does not fill screen on my lg flatpanel monitor and text smaller

You may have changed your display resolution.
You can right mouse click in an empty spot on the desktop. Choose Personalization from the options there.
From that Personalization screen look for the Display link down the lower left and use that.
Look for the Adjust Resolution option. From that screen use the Resolution slider and test to see if a lower resolution brings you back to where you were previously.

You can have your wallpaper set to adust automatically when you change resolutions.
Go back to the Personalization screen. Click on the Desktop Background link on the bottom edge of the screen. Look for Picture Position. Change that option from Center to Stretch and your wallpaper should adjust it's size automatically.
